Male or Female?? I get this question quite often when people are trying to decide on a puppy. Most people think that females make better "family pets" but from experience this isn't entirely true. My males are some of the most affectionate, loving, sweet and gentle natured dogs ever. They also seem to be less moody. Males can sometimes be more puppy like and playful for a longer period of time. If neutered early males tend not to lift their legs or mark. Female if not spayed will have "heat" cycles 2 times a year where they will bleed and they are moody and you will have to keep them away from male dogs and they will have to be supervised closely because many times males from all of over the neighborhood will be coming to "visit" and you will have the chance of an unwanted pregnancy if she is not spayed. Having a male neutered is about 1/2 price of a female being spayed and generally males are sometimes cheaper depending on the breeder. With all of this being said it is your choice but raising both males and females they both have good qualities and you cannot make a bad choice with any schnauzer because they are some of the sweetest, smartest and most loyal companions anyone could have. |
